18 Apr New exhibition | The Institution
From the 17th of May until the 17th of June Assembled by Root will host The Institution, a photographic exhibition by artist Sophie de Vos, a Rotterdam based photographer. Sophie takes her strong interests in human being, their bodies, psyche, interactions and memories, and carries these through all of her work. Delicately, she manages to pose questions on human nature and develop touching narratives with personal experiences, emotions and encounters as points of inspiration. Aside from her photography, Sophie has produced several linguistic works, primarily playing with the theme of repetition, which are often exhibited alongside her photographic work.
‘The Institution’ is a series of seven images, which hint at themes such as depersonalization, institutionalization and self-development, although their true meanings lie in the personal interpretation of the beholder. The works create a fascinating contrast through the use of Sophie’s habitual soft colored palette paralleled with striking composition and action depictions, which load each piece with meaning. The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 20th from 3PM to 6PM and we welcome anyone who is interested to join and have a drink with us.
More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page and further questions can be answered via firstname.lastname@example.org.
